About the Laurelwood Seventh-day Adventist Church

Originally known as Laurel Springs Seventh-day Adventist Church, the congregation began its journey in the years following World War II, forming sometime after the 1950s in the close-knit town of Laurel Springs, New Jersey.
The Laurel Springs Church building was modest and able to seat about 50 people, with limited parking that reflected its small but devoted membership. Despite its size, the church served as a spiritual home where faith was nurtured and community was built.
From around 1950 until 1998, the Laurel Springs church continued its mission until the property was eventually sold to Laurel Springs SDA Spanish Church. As the congregation grew and its vision expanded, it became clear that a new chapter was unfolding.

In 1997, the church purchased a new property in Deptford on top of a hill, marking a significant turning point in its history. After extensive remodeling and preparation, members officially moved into the new location in 1998, embracing a renewed sense of purpose and opportunity. With this move came a new name—Laurelwood Seventh-day Adventist Church—symbolizing both continuity and growth.

The journey did not stop there. In 2008, the church completed construction of a new sanctuary, creating a dedicated space for worship, fellowship, and ministry for generations to come.

Today, Laurelwood Seventh-day Adventist Church stands as a testament to faithfulness through change—honoring its past while looking forward with hope, service, and commitment to sharing God’s love with the surrounding community.

About the Seventh-day Adventists Globally

The Seventh-day Adventist Church is a well-established Protestant denomination with around 19 million members across the globe, including over one million in North America. The mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church is to improve the well-being of people everywhere and to share the message that Jesus will return soon.
Adventists believe in one God made up of three persons—the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. They believe salvation was made possible when Jesus, the Son, was born as a child in Bethlehem and lived a perfect life in obedience to the Father’s will. Through His crucifixion for the sins of humanity and His resurrection on the third day, Jesus secured victory for all people.
After His resurrection, Jesus returned to heaven and sent the Holy Spirit to act as a Comforter and Guide. He also promised to come back to earth a second time to finish His plan of salvation and bring His followers to heaven. Adventists are among those who eagerly await that promised return.
Adventists also believe that God deeply cares about human well-being and that every aspect of life—the choices we make, our diet, our words, our thoughts, how we treat others, and how we care for the world—fits into His purpose. God values our families, children, work, abilities, finances, and how we use our time.
